Ferrum Edges Women's Team
Tue, 10/30/2007 - Winchester, VA.
The Shenandoah University women's soccer team gave it everything they had, but came up just short in a 1-0 USA South Conference loss to Ferrum College Saturday afternoon.

Ferrum (6-9-2, 5-4 USA South) got a Jessica Lively goal in the 76th minute to down the Hornets (5-12, 3-6) and clinch the No. 5 seed at next week's USA South Conference Tournament in the process.

Shenandoah, which could have forced a three-way tie for fifth place with with N.C. Wesleyan and the Lady Panthers with a win, falls to the seventh-seed. SU will travel to No. 2 seed Christopher Newport on Tuesday night for a quarterfinal round game.

FC held the Hornets to just two shots on goal in the contest, both by freshman Krista Pattison.

Hornets keeper Samantha LoPreto made six saves in the loss.
